What Is GSM and Why It Matters
GSM stands for grams per square meter. It measures the weight of fabric in grams for every square meter of material. Think of it as how heavy or dense the fabric feels.
Low GSM fabrics (around 100-150) are lightweight and breathable. Examples include summer t-shirts and curtains.
Medium GSM fabrics (150-250) offer a balance of durability and comfort. These are common in shirts and bedsheets.
High GSM fabrics (above 250) are thick and sturdy, like denim or winter jackets.

What Fabric Count Means
Fabric count refers to the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. It combines the number of threads running lengthwise (warp) and widthwise (weft).
A higher count means more threads packed tightly, resulting in a smoother and often stronger fabric.
A lower count means fewer threads, which can make the fabric feel rougher or less durable.
For example, a bedsheet with a thread count of 300 will feel softer and last longer than one with 150. However, very high thread counts (above 600) don’t always mean better quality. Sometimes manufacturers add extra threads artificially, which can reduce breathability.
